Note
A wonderful collection of jewellery designs, probably French. The highly detailed designs, largely in colour, are of ornamental combs, bachelor buttons and possibly brooches. The sketches for the decorative heads of combs are elegantly uncomplicated often with a floral design or with the addition of a dove or dragon. The other, largely circular designs, are distinctive in style with the continual inclusion of animals, cherubs, floral patterns, and musical instruments. The more unusual sketches have an air of the fairytale about them; cherubs riding dragonflies, doves, snails and cats; violin-playing crickets and cello-playing mice.
