Tosi's treatise Opinioni de' cantori antichi e moderni was first published in 1723. "The Opinioni remains a valuable source of information about Baroque performing practice, particularly the interpretation of appoggiaturas, trills and other vocal ornaments and the use of tempo rubato." TNG Vol. 19, p89. In all a very presentable copy of this musical rarity.

The front pastedown bears the 18C bookplate of George Wm Gent (presumably of Moyns Park, Steeple Bumpstead, Essex).
