Date:

The First UK printing published by Chatto And Windus in 1942. Stapled stiff plain card covers with pictorial Wrapper which looks like it may have been stuck down to the spine formerly. The BOOK is in Very Good++ condition. Occasional light spotting in places. Free from inscriptions and erasures. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ condition. The pictorial design looks very attractive in the removable Brodart archival cover. Closed tears and some minor loss to the spine. Two closed tears to the front cover adjacent to the spine. Wonderful full page three coloured illustrations by Enid Marx. This was Barnett Freedman's copy and thought it bears no identifying marks as such, it was previously in the ownership of Freedman's family. A very scarce wartime title from one of the great 20th century illustrators. Collectible
