A good sound set in original half morrocco heavily tooled with gilt lettering pieces Roy. 8vo.xvi, 254pps +51 colour plates ; xi, 368 pps +64 colour plates + engraved title pages with colour printed vignettes by Leighton [All plates called for] top edge gilt. [ A glossary has been added in manuscript. at the back of vol 1] Usual foxing to foredges, occaisionally affecting the plate but generally good. First published in 1855/6 in parts in a folio edition with just 51 plates costing 6 guineas. The expanded 2 volume Octavo edition [ Along with its companion Nature-Printed British Sea weeds] represents Bradburys principal achievement in nature printing and though further volumes were planned he killed himself in 1860. The firm never the less exhibited the process at the 1862 International Exhibition and were awarded a medal
