Published: Paris :Olympia Press,

Date: 1955

First edition, first issue. (190), (224) pages, with pp11-12 omitted in volume I (see Juliar), “Francs : 900” at the foot of rear covers and tiny “1” figures on the first free endpapers; original green card wraps lettered in black; a couple of light wrinkles to the spine on v1 and some minimal rubbing to the tips of the corners on the front panel; with v2 are two very light horizontal impressions across the front cover and a barely visible dink at the foot of the spine.

A really fine set of the true First Edition of this seminal novel that was banned in America until l1958. It is the controversial story of a pedophile's desire for a 12-year-old girl, who reminds him of the little girl he loved as a boy. The novel took Nabokov six years to complete and was later turned into a film directed by Stanley Kubrick.
