Sheets 44G and 44H, showing SUMATRA, JAVA and BORNEO on a SCALE OF 1:1000000 (approx 1 inch to 15.78 miles)BRIGHTLY PRINTED AND IN EXCELLENT CLEAN FRESH CONDITION.LARGE SIZE APPROX 24 inches x 36 inches, FOLDING DOWN TO APPROX 3" x 5".ALTITUDE SHOWN IN COLOUR ALONG WITH TOPOGRAPHICAL DETAILS,ROADS, RAIL & TRAM LINES, TELEGRAPH LINES & OFFICES,TOWNS & VILLAGES,RIVERS and OTHER IMPORTANT GEOGRAPHICAL DETAILS etc.DESIGNED TO BE DURABLE AND LIGHT BY BEING PRINTED ONTO FABRIC RATHER THAN PAPER.

ISSUED DURING TIMES OF CONFLICT & DESIGNED TO BE SEWN INSIDE THE CLOTHING OF MILITARY PERSONNEL AND AIR CREWMEN IN CASE OF BEING TRAPPED OR SHOT DOWN BEHIND ENEMY LINES.THE IDEA WAS THAT SAID PERSONNEL WOULD BE ABLE TO AVOID CAPTURE AND RETURN TO SAFE TERRITORY.UNDATED AND UNCREDITED BUT PROBABLY ISSUED TO AMERICAN FORCES IN THE EARLY 1950's BUT CERTAINLY PRE.1954 WHEN THE FEDERATION WAS DISBANDED.
