Published in London by Richard Bentley in 1856 this is a lovely early English edition of the Novels of Jane Austen. The Set Comprises SENSE AND SENSIBILITY – PRIDE AND PREJUDICE – EMMA – MANSFIELD PARK – NORTHANGER ABBEY & PERSUASION – The books are beautifully bound in quality hand crafted SIGNED HALF LEATHER BINDINGS bound by the famous London bookbinders run by John Ramage with hand marbled paper covered boards, Morocco Leather with raised bands titled and decorated in gilt, with the 1856 date embossed on base of spines, the bindings have some general edge rubbing, with wear to the marbled paper on the boards else are in good solid condition, leather joints in good condition to all volumes with no cracking, internally fitted with marbled endpapers, all books retain the half title pages as well as the main titles, and feature extra engraved title pages and steel engraved frontispieces which carry the original 1833 date of the Bentley edition, some minor foxing to some page edges, light offsetting to the engraved title pages, else contents are in nice condition, no inscriptions or bookplates.
