Published: London: Sandle Bros. 1950s

A Paper Doll type book, or more strictly cardboard, that changes clothes by turning the pages of the book, once you have pulled out the head at the top and the legs at the bottom. A story accompanies this. It is in VG condition.

Mr Van Groen claimed these books to be his invention. The first 2 titles of this Jack-in-the-Books kind were published in 1950 - the Well known Janny (1800A) and Ernst (1800B). they were best sellers and reprinted several times in Holland in the 1950s, both with and without the authors name on the front cover. English editions such as this came out simultaneously in 1950 as Jack (for Ernst) and Jill (for Janny) with the same 1800 numbers and are known to be published & reprinted with just the windmill logo and the M&Z as well as the Mulder & Zoon, Amsterdam Imprint, and a 3rd edition co published by Sandle Brothers.
