[4 (title page & dedication)], 214, [26 (index)]pp., plus 4 blank leaves at either end of the text (outer ones apparently intended to act as the paste-down endpapers), contemporary calf, sides panelled by nesting double blind fillet borders with a decorative blind ornament at the inner panel corners, spine panelled by raised bands, spine panels with double blind fillet borders, title panel apparently gilt lettered in a darker stained background, gilt lettering and darker stain now mainly rubbed away, without the errata leaf following the 4-page preliminaries but with all of the very numerous corrections throughout listed in the errata leaf (photocopy supplied) made in the text in a tiny contemporary hand (including an additional passage added in the margin of p.4), else very good. Rare.

Provenance
Contemporary signature on title page "James King" with the corrections apparently made in his hand, and a very few other contemporary marginal notes in another hand and in Latin.
