Published in London in 1843 this is the First Edition of what has been described as one of the most lavish and beautifully produced books of the Nineteenth Century, the books cover the costumes and decorative object of the Middle Ages, BEAUTIFULLY ILLUSTRATED with NINETY FOUR PLATES many of which are finely and brightly coloured by hand, with other illustrations within the text this set is handsomely bound in old Half Vellum bindings, titled and decorated in gilt to the spines. The marbled paper to the bindings are noticeably rubbed, some mild marks and darkening to the vellum with some edge rubbing wear else bindings are in very good general condition, internally the text pages are noticeably heavily foxed to many pages, browning to a few of the plates, one folding plate has been neatly strengthened to a split along the fold line else contents in good general condition SOME HEAVY NOTICEABLE FOXING TO THE TEXT PAGES ELSE A VERY HANDSOMELY BOUND EXAMPLE OF THESE BEAUTIFUL BOOKS
