An Accurate Map of the West Riding of York Shire

Published: from the Large English Atlas c.1764

Original outline hand colouring. 21" x 28".

A very good, untouched example from one of the most influential atlases of the eighteenth century showing, amongst other features, post stages, turnpike roads and the remains of Roman roads. There is an inset view of Leeds and the map is bordered by 'Historical Extracts relating to its Natural produce, Mines, Minerals, Manufactures, Trade, etc.' A little minor paper discolouration.
