The card with this copy was written by Phillipp Visser in his capacity as Consular General for the Netherlands. He writes: “Dear Begum, Just returning from a long official journey through Netherland India. I found your letter of December 8th, which did not reach me in Java and so was sent back from their [sic] to British India. As I did not take the negatives with me (leaving them behind in Calcutta for developing), I could not fulfil my promise earlier. I hope you will forgive me! Hereby enclosed the photo’s I took in Paliala [?Patiala]. I think they are rather good. I hope you are well. With kindest regards, I remain Yours sincerely, Ph, C. Visser.” The photographs mentioned are no longer present.
