A Range of Poems, 1966

Published: Fulcrum Press

Date: 1966

Brown cloth covers with gilt lettering to the spine, all clean and sharp. Clean and bright pages with a touch of age toning to the outer edges, a few light marks to the bottom edge, crease to the last page and slight bow to rear board as seen in photos. Unclipped dust jacket, clean and bright, with a couple of nicks to the edges but overall in near fine condition. 163pp. Fulcrum Press was a major avant garde poetry press started in 1965 by Stuart Montgomery, a Rhodesian-born doctor and poet. During its time, Fulcrum Press published about 40 books by more than 20 writers. It made a significant contribution to the British Poetry Revival and was one of the best-known little presses of the period recognized for publishing the works of Modernist poets including Ezra Pound, Basil Bunting, Tom Pickard and Gary Snyder. We have recently acquired a small selection of titles from the Fulcrum Press, including Tom Pickard‘s High On The Walls (with jacket artwork by the singer Ian Dury) and two First Editions by Gary Snyder, that from his work as an environmental activist has been described as the "poet laureate of Deep Ecology". Snyder is the winner of a Pulitzer Prize for Poetry and the American Book Award.
