Quote
The extraordinary adventures of a Welsh sailor captured by French privateers, enslaved in Algeria, his escape with the wealthy Cleone, their joining of a caravan to Cairo, the loss and recovery of their jewelery from robbers, the pursuit of Cleone by another woman (spurned she attempts to poison Cleone, is tried and executed), a journey to Mecca, further wranglings with slavers before the return journey to Britain during which the ship captain threatens Cleone that "if she did not comply to be his wife... he would use her as his whore".
