Published in Dudley, Staffordshire in 1868 this is a rare early book of photographs of the town with real tipped in photographs of the Castle, Wren’s Nest Hill, the Limestone Caverns, The Dudley Bug trilobite Calymene blumenbachii, The Town Hall, The Market, The Level Furnaces, The Mechanics Institute, The Round Oak Ironworks and more in a series of twenty one photographs with accompanying text bound in the original cloth covers, the book has some noticeable signs of wear and age, the cloth covers are faded with noticeable wrinkling of the cloth, wear to cloth at spine ends and corners, with some edge bumping, internally some cracking to joints though book still holding firm, there is some offsetting to the frontispiece photograph of the Panorama of the town from The Wren’s Nest from the trilobite photograph on the title page, there is some very noticeable moisture staining to the pages with the photographs, this is far more visible to these pages than the text pages with were printed on different paper stock, the staining does not have much noticeable effect on the photographs themselves, some foxing and occasional handling and other marks else contents in good acceptable condition SHOWING SOME OBVIOUS SIGNS OF WEAR AND AGE BUT REMAINS AN ACCEPTABLE COPY OF THIS RARE EARLY EXAMPLE OF REAL PHOTOGRAPHS USED IN A BOOK
