This is a fascinating Eighteenth Century Manuscript Road Map made in October 1786 by a George Holland, the Map starting at London Bridge, Appleton, Warrington in the North following the roads down to Northwich in Cheshire, taking in the villages and towns of Great Budworth, Bartington Heath, Stretton, Lower Stretton, Bradley Brook, Higher Whitley, Lower Whitley, Barnton, The River Weaver, Winnington, Wincham, Marston, Marston Hall, Belmont, etc, the Map also records details of individual households, mentioning some owners names, Pubs, Churches, Windmills, Canals, Bridges, Quarries, some features with small delicate illustrations, details of distances are recorded along both of the two main roads the map covers, along with alternative shorter routes, the Map measures 45 inches by 18 inches approx., it has quite a number of small edge tears with some mild corner loss, a few rust marked pinholes along top and bottom edges, two fold lines with some noticeable creases else in very good general condition
